General Motors
The HMI designers at General Motors brought our team the challenge of prototyping applications using real-time 3d rendering software Unreal Engine, then implementing with Android auto.
We brought GM’s vision to life with graphics integration, 3d animations, and full stack app development. In addition to the prototype, we also tested and validated the quality of each app after release into vehicle software.
Current in-vehicle imagery pulled from GM websites.
PROTOTYPE
Offroad app functionality is built by creating blueprints for animating basic movements within the app as well as page navigation, day/night mode, and displaying data. At this point we are also building the procedural materials, honing the suspension movement, and testing how data will be fed to the text display as we swipe from screen to screen.
A tactile and visual experience, users opening the Vehicle Status app are met with a model of their car on their screen. With one swipe, they are instantly able to view any angle of the car as the camera pans around the scene. Any urgent alerts will flash and open dialog buttons to get them the help they need. Early iterations and sketches are shown below.
